The Omokoroa stake park will be a focus for police during the school holidays as we are still having minor issues with children misbehaving in the area. Nearby rural areas are still being targeted by offenders from other districts. A report from a neighbour who reported a suspicious vehicle, has allowed police to identify an offender and that person will be arrested this week for burglary. This offender had travelled from Waihi to commit the crime. Please ensure that any crime in the area is reported. I get several inquiries about offending, but some is not being reported. The 105 number is for historic or minor matters and is an easy way to report crime or suspicious behaviour. Anything reported on the phone or online is viewed by the Katikati police staff and appropriate action taken where it can be.
